How to Play

Gemstone Hive is a tower defense game where you protect your hive from waves of enemies!

• Your Tower - Your main tower automatically shoots at enemies. Keep it safe!
• Collect Gems - Defeated enemies drop gems. Collect them to purchase defenses.
• Build Defenses - Use gems to buy cards from the shop at the bottom:
  • Worker (5 gems) - Prospectors that automatically collect gems for you
  • Wall (10 gems) - Block enemies and create chokepoints
  • Unit (15 gems) - Mobile defenders that fight enemies
  • Tower (25 gems) - Auto-shooting turrets that help defend
• Place Strategically - Click a card to select it, then click on the grid to place your defense. The grid overlay shows valid placement locations.
• Survive the Waves - Each wave brings more enemies. Plan your defenses carefully and upgrade your tower to survive!

Controls: Use your mouse to select cards and place defenses. Press G to toggle the grid overlay. Use keyboard shortcuts 1-4 to quickly select cards.

About the Author

This game was built mostly on Saturday while I was waiting for an event. I found a copy of DragonRuby GDK  that I had gotten in a bundle a few years back and I wanted to learn how to use the engine so here we are. I've been a developer for over 10 years, and was looking for an outlet to express myself in between being a new dad.
